Sending cards to the Alt Vault works differently depending on how you're using Alt. This article covers both inbound shipping paths and answers the most common questions.
What's the difference between the two ways to ship cards to Alt?
Snap to Sell (mobile app only): If you've accepted a cash advance quote through Snap to Sell, your shipping is handled through Alt's Ship Now flow. A prepaid, insured label is generated in-app, and the shipping cost is applied to your Alt account for payment once successfully received and scanned in at our Vault facilities.
Organic intake (web or mobile): If you're sending cards to the Vault without a Snap to Sell quote — for storage or to list later — you generate a label through alt.xyz/intake or Account → Shipments → Send your items to Alt. Customers are responsible for shipping and insurance fees, invoiced on receipt.

What's my shipping deadline after accepting a quote?
A: Your ship-by deadline is 3 days from acceptance. Your cards must arrive at the Alt Vault within 6 days. Both dates are shown on the Ship Now screen in the app after you accept your quote. If you've passed your ship-by date, feel free to reach out to Alt Support — your quote may still be valid depending on timing.
How do I get my shipping label?
A: After accepting your quote, open your submission in the app and tap "Prepare My Shipping Label." Select your shipping option, confirm, and email the label to yourself for printing. Repeat users with a saved address skip the address entry step entirely — the label is ready immediately.
When am I actually charged for shipping?
A: Only when your items are received and processed at the vault. If you generate a label but don't ship, you are not charged. If you edit your label and generate a new one, only the label used to deliver your shipment results in a charge.
Is shipping free?
A: No — but Alt's negotiated rates are up to 40% cheaper than retail FedEx or USPS rates. The cost is applied to your Alt account upon reciept, so nothing is paid upfront or out of pocket.
What carriers are available?
A: FedEx and USPS for domestic shipments. We only show options that will deliver within our required receiving window, so every choice you see will get your cards to us on time.
Is my shipment insured?
A: Yes — insurance is on by default and covers your shipment from pickup through vaulting. You can opt out, but we strongly recommend keeping it on.
Under $50,000: FedEx and USPS, fully insured
$50,000–$200,000: FedEx only, fully insured
$200,000–$500,000: FedEx Overnight only, fully insured
Over $500,000: Contact support — insurance not available through the in-app flow
Can I edit my label after generating it?
A: Yes. Tap Edit on the "Ready to Ship" screen to update your address or change your shipping option. This cancels the previous label and generates a new one — make sure to use the new label, as the old one will no longer be valid.
I can't find my label — what do I do?
A: Check your spam or junk folder first and mark the sender as "safe." You can also tap Edit on the "Ready to Ship" screen to regenerate and resend it. Generating a new label does not result in an additional charge.
I don't have a printer — what do I do?
A: Email the label to yourself and print at a FedEx office or any print shop. QR code support (scan at FedEx without printing) is coming soon.
I already dropped off my package with my own label — what now?
A: Tap "Dropped it off already?" on the shipping screen to move to tracking. Note that packages shipped without an Alt label aren't covered by Alt's end-to-end insurance — you'd need to file a claim with the carrier directly if something goes wrong.
I generated a label but changed my mind — will I be charged?
A: No — labels are only charged on vault receipt. If you want to cancel your accepted quote entirely, you can contact our Support team for assistance.
Organic Intake (Vault Only)
How do I generate a label without a Snap to Sell quote?
A: Go to alt.xyz/intake on the web, or navigate to Account → Shipments → Send your items to Alt in the app. Select Sell in Auctions or Store in Alt Vault depending on your intent, then tap Generate Shipping Label.
Who pays for shipping on organic intake?
A: You do — shipping and insurance fees are the customer's responsibility and are invoiced upon receipt of your items at the vault.
Do you support international shipping?
A: Not yet through the in-app flow. If you're shipping from outside the US, please contact our support team and we'll arrange it manually.
