Overview
Alt charges certain fees to your account based on platform activity and the services you use. This article covers the types of fees you may see, how and when they are charged, and how to pay them.
Types of Fees
Vaulting Fee for Low-Value Cards
A $5 vaulting fee is automatically charged for each slabbed card sent to the Alt Vault with an Alt Value (AV) under $50. This fee is applied at the time of intake to help cover the cost of storage and handling for lower-value assets.
Important details:
This fee applies only to cards vaulted on or after March 18, 2026. Cards already in the vault before this date are not affected.
Cards with no Alt Value on file are not charged this fee.
The fee is assessed at intake — it is not retroactively applied if a card sells above $50 after being vaulted.
Raw Card Fee
A $5 fee applies to raw (ungraded) cards sent to the vault.
Other Account Fees
Additional fees may be applied to your account for the following services:
Grading — PSA grading submitted through Alt
Shipping — Outbound shipping fees
Private Sale — Fees associated with private sale transactions
Consulting — Expert consulting services
Intake & Outtake — Processing fees for sending cards to or from the Vault
Account Reinstatement — Fee required to reinstate a suspended account

Select the Fees tab to see all outstanding and past charges
How to Pay a Fee
To pay an outstanding fee:
Log in to your Alt account
Navigate to Purchases → Fees
Locate the outstanding charge
Click Pay Now, or use Bulk Pay to pay multiple fees in a single transaction
Select your preferred payment method and follow the on-screen instructions
Accepted payment methods for fees: Credit/Debit Card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, WeChatPay, Amazon Pay, CashApp, ACH Transfer
Auto-Pay
Alt's auto-pay feature automatically processes outstanding fee charges on your behalf daily, so you don't have to manually initiate every payment.
How it works:
When a fee is due, Alt will first attempt to apply any available Alt Account Balance toward the charge
If your account balance is insufficient, Alt will charge your primary payment method on file (via Stripe)
Auto-pay runs daily — charges are settled automatically without requiring action on your end
Receiving Notification of Fees
You will receive an email notification when you have outstanding fees, as well as a confirmation email once a payment has been successfully processed.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What happens if my payment method on file fails?
A: If auto-pay is unsuccessful, the fee will remain in a pending state. Alt will continue to attempt payment daily using your available account balance or primary payment method. You can also log in and pay manually from your Purchases → Fees page at any time. Accounts with unpaid fees may be restricted from bidding until the balance is resolved.
Q: Can I dispute a fee?
A: If you believe a fee has been applied in error, please reach out to our Collector Support team at support@alt.xyz and we will review your account.
Q: Can I waive a fee?
A: Fees can be reviewed and waived by our Collector Support team prior to payment in certain circumstances. Please contact us at support@alt.xyz if you have questions about a specific charge.
Q: What if I have no payment method on file?
A: If there is no payment method linked to your account, outstanding fees will sit in a pending state on your Purchases → Fees page and will require manual payment. You can add a payment method in your account settings at any time.
Q: Why is there a $5 fee for low-value cards?
A: This fee reflects the actual cost of storing, handling, and insuring cards in the vault. Similar platforms charge comparable or higher fees — for example, Goldin charges a $5 flat fee and Fanatics charges $3/month for storage. If you'd prefer to avoid the fee, we recommend not submitting slabbed cards with an Alt Value under $50.
Q: Will I be charged if my card has no Alt Value?
A: No. Cards without an Alt Value on file are not subject to the low-value vaulting fee.
Q: Does this apply to cards already in my vault?
A: No. This fee only applies to cards vaulted on or after March 11, 2026. Cards already stored in your vault before that date are not charged.
Q: Can I pay multiple fees at once?
A: Yes. You can use the Bulk Pay option in your Purchases → Fees tab to pay multiple outstanding fees in a single transaction.
